(Mufti) Hamid Patel CBE (Chair)

Mr Patel is the Chief Executive of the Tauheedul Education Trust. Under his leadership, TIGHS secured three outstanding inspections by Ofsted and became the top school in the county for achievement by students from deprived backgrounds and those with low prior achievement at primary school. Mr Patel is passionate about system-wide improvement, reflected in TIGHS’ designation as a Teaching School. Mr Patel is a member of several national and international strategic educational forums.

Kam Kothia, DL

With a strong background experience in telecommunications, Mr Kothia established eBusiness UK Ltd in 1998 to supply e-commerce, e-marketing and web site design solutions to SMEs in the North West.  eBusiness UK is now renowned as one of Lancashire’s premier digital agencies.  It specialises in helping businesses generate great investment returns from their online channels.  With over a dozen years of frontline digital experience, eBusiness UK have delivered over 300 online solutions and won numerous awards along the way.

Mr Kothia is currently the Chair of Governors at TIGHS, Chair of Board of Trustees of the Tauheedul Education Trust and Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire. His previous commitments have included being a Director of Business Link, Vice Chairman and Director of the Asian Business Federation and a Director of the East Lancashire Partnership. Mr Kothia was also a founder member and Chair of the NWDA’s NW Ethnic Minority Business Forum and founder Member of the DTI Ministerial Ethnic Minority Business Forum.

Anne Pilling

Mrs Pilling is an experienced educational professional who currently works as independent education consultant, specialising in assessment, teaching & learning and all aspects of science education.  She achieved a BSc Honours in Applied Biology and initially worked as an industrial scientist before completing a PGCE in Biology & Integrated Science and moving into teaching.  Mrs Pilling has continued to study throughout her career, gaining a PGC in Educational Leadership and Process Consultancy, gaining recognition as a Chartered Science Teacher (Masters Level Qualification) and becoming a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors.

Mrs Pilling has over thirty years experience of work in schools and, since becoming an Independent Education Consultant, has kept up to date on new developments in order to be able to challenge, support and advise schools in all aspects of their work.  She is a GCSE examiner and writes science textbooks to support study at this level.  Her deep understanding of curriculum and how students progress in learning has led to her contributing to writing new curricula and support materials for use in China, Africa and Abu Dhabi.

Shamsuddin Desai (Vice Chair)

Mr S Desai is an experienced automotive engineer who previously worked for both Ford and Jaguar.  For the last ten years, he has worked at BAE Systems.  He has a Joint Masters in Advanced Manufacturing and Operations Excellence, which underpins his approaches to project management and understanding of business management.  Before becoming a Governor at TIGHS, Mr Desai had experience of working with both schools and colleges in his role as an Ambassador for BAE Systems.  Groups of students work with a team of BAE Ambassadors to undertake Design Projects and Challenges, which develop the students’ understanding of how basic, intermediate, and advanced engineering technology contributes to the developments that impact on everyday life.

Zubair Desai

Mr Z Desai has a BA (Hons) Business Management and previous experience as an Executive Officer of the Inland Revenue.  He brings the skills of finance and business management to the Governing Body along with his experience from being a trustee for a UK registered charity.  A Medical Sales representative for Novartis for 13 years, he is currently employed as an Accounts Manager for Johnson & Johnson.

Mr Z Desai is a keen and active sportsman pursuing football, golf and cricket.  For the last five years, he has been the manager of an under-14s football team.

Feeroz Moosa

Mr Moosa has a BA (Hons) Computing in Business – 2.1; ISEB (International Systems Engineering Board) Diploma in Business Analysis (2013); ITIL (Service Management) and currently works as an IT Consultant in the Telecommunications industry working on major global transformation work in the Consumer Packaged Goods sector and Local/National Secure Government accounts.  He brings significant financial expertise to the Governing Body with his experience in using cost transformation methods such as Lean Six Sigma to reduce costs and streamline businesses and also in implementing continuous improvement methods.

Mr Moosa is a Member of Brookhouse Development Group which is a community interest/social enterprise company.  He contributes to the wider community as a volunteer and is currently working on a drugs awareness project within the community to promote awareness of the dangers to children and parents. This involves work with different agencies such as the Police to see how community engagement may contribute to reducing the misuse of drugs.

Dr Asma Master

Dr Master is Research Scientist and Medical Training Officer for Manchester hospitals.  She is a Specialist in infectious diseases with a PhD from University College London and MBBS – Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.  Dr Master has been involved in voluntary work with a multicultural community in London, working with Islington council and local community centres.  She has organised community events and language classes focused on developing community cohesion, promoting employment skills and health events to raise awareness leading healthy lifestyles.

Idris Natha

Mr Natha brings a deep understanding of employment law and its practical application to the Governing Body. He has been a qualified solicitor for over 15 years, has a BA (Hons) and PGDLC in Legal Practice and has worked for leading national, international and regional law firms. He is currently a partner in a law firm based in Preston and a Member of the Law Society.

Mr Natha has a passion for education and wants use his experience to show learners the link between how the world works and the influence of education on it.  In his spare time, Mr Natha enjoys football, cricket, travelling and particularly enjoys reading history books. He works with charities and voluntary groups, assisting them by completing legal documentation free of charge.

Imran Patel

Mr I Patel is the Managing Director and a partner in a large clothing company.  He has been involved in both import and export of goods and worked in retailing, manufacturing, wholesaling, distribution and e-sales.

He brings skills in finance and business management to the Governing Body as well as knowledge of estates.  He is involved in a range of community activities and projects aimed at developing cohesion and shared responsibility.  His hobbies are watching and playing football.

Amina Modan

Mrs Modan has First Class Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Manchester; PGCE (UCLAN) and QTLS-GTP (Edgehill University) and Masters in Education with a Distinction from the University of Cumbria.  She is a staff Governor and is currently Assistant Principal.  Mrs Modan has over 10 years of experience in teaching Psychology and leading learning and teaching at two other local schools and colleges and experience of working in a large 11-18 Anglican faith school.  She brings her skills as an education professional to the Governing Body.  These include 6 years as an examiner for AQA (Psychology A-Level).  She is currently Senior Examiner for the AQA A-Level Psychology exam.

Sufyan Patel

Mr S Patel is an experienced IT Consultant, working professionally since 1999.  He has worked for multiple organisations throughout his employment history and mainly specialises in Infrastructure Design and Management.  Mr S Patel has a 2:1 degree in Business Computing gained at the University of Sunderland and has completed several Microsoft Certified qualifications linked to his area of expertise.

Voluntary work is an important aspect of service for Mr S Patel.  He is a qualified FA Coach and spends many weekends coaching children football skills and manages the U11’s team.  Mr S Patel sits on the executive board for Blackburn United FC, contributing greatly to grassroots football with Blackburn with Darwen.

Dr Zaki Patel

Dr Patel was born in Zambia but completed his further and higher education qualifications in the UK, culminating in 1999 Medical degree from Aberdeen University.  Dr Patel has worked as a GP at Brookhouse Medical Centre and for the last 11 years East Lancashire Medical Services in Blackburn.  Dr Patel has significant experience of governance. He has been a Board Member of Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Group for the past 4 years.  He has a strong understanding of the financial management and fiscal responsibilities of budgets funded by government.

Mohmed Hanif Sufi

Mr Sufi is a well known and well-respected member of the local community, with a strong commitment to promoting a progressive, outwardly focused view of Muslim faith and culture and its contribution to British society. He is the home liaison and community link officer at a local community secondary school.  Mr Sufi was appointed as one of the first Muslim magistrates in the UK.  He served as Blackburn with Darwen Magistrate (specialist Justice of the Peace) for 18 years, from 1993 to 2011.  Mr Sufi holds various leadership roles in the local community.  He is an experienced school governor, initially at St Michael with St Johns CE School, and then at Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School since it became a voluntary aided school within the Local Authority and now as member of the Tauheedul Education Trust.  

Nazma Master

Mrs Master joined the staff at TIGHS after working for the Local Authority and a community college teaching English Language and ICT to foreign students for several years.  She has five years experience as Head of Year at the School.   She works closely with teaching and non-teaching staff including the Senior Leadership Team and was recently elected to represent staff members on the school governing body.  Mrs Master has previous experience as a Governor of a Primary School, where over the last five years she has played an instrumental role in overseeing a number of key strategic changes which helped the school progress in all areas, from leadership and staff development to curriculum development and pastoral care. 

Aisha Ahmed

Mrs Ahmed is currently Head of Faculty for Maths at a Secondary School.

Mrs Ahmed has a Diploma in Maths and a BSc with Honours in Mathematical Sciences, as well as holding a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) in secondary Maths and an NPQML (National Qualification in Middle Leadership).  She has been in teaching for 19 years and also ran an independent school as Headteacher.  Personal interests include reading, crochet, travel and socialising with family and friends.

Asma Issa

Mrs Issa is a full-time mum and her time is dedicated to supporting her children, as well as her husband in the running of their successful family business, Euro Garages.

Mrs Issa is also a member of our school’s Parent Shuraa (Council), besides being a volunteer for the registered charity, Issa Foundation.  Her personal interests include cooking, baking, travel, swimming and cycling, as well as socialising with friends and family.
