Leadership and Citizenship Week 2013

The theme for 2013 was … “Healthy minds, active bodies and pure souls”

The week in focus

The event ran between Monday 16th December and19th December and involved a range of activities for Key Stage 3 students: – writing and delivering dramatic performances, creating products for a market place and taking part in a whole school debate.

These projects included a range of activities.

Y7s created hand crafted products based around the theme of active bodies and pure souls. These products were sold to students throughout the school and raised awareness on the importance of being healthy

Y8s prepared for a series of dramatisations around the life of inspirational leader Nelson Mandela; how he used his active mind, active body and pure soul to make changes in the civil rights movement in South Africa.

Y9s performed a passionate debate on ‘Should Brazil host the World Cup?’, where students conducted detailed research on different pressure and interest groups involved in the World Cup and considering a wide range of social and economic factors that are often overlooked in media coverage.
