Welcome from the Principal

Assalamu Alaikum / Peace be upon you

A very warm welcome to our website.

We’ve come a long way since those early days in 1984 when the school started with just a small intake of girls and even fewer resources.

However, our guiding principles and mission have remained the same – for TIGHS to be a place where girls and young women aged between 11 and 19 can achieve educational excellence and benefit from outstanding opportunities for character development, leadership and service to communities.

We’re very proud to be one of the most outstanding schools in the country. Our pursuit of academic excellence is based upon our unshakeable belief that every person is unique and special, and has the capacity within themselves to succeed. Our vision is to nurture today’s young people and inspire tomorrow’s leaders, and our job as a school is to help each and every young person discover their unique talents.

We believe that all our students, from every background, are capable of achieving outstanding outcomes and developing into active British citizens who contribute fully to the local and global community. We promote fundamental British values and welcome applications from students of all faiths and none.

As a Hadeeth (narration) from the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) teaches us – “People are like treasures – just like treasures of gold and silver.” As we know, gold and silver do not simply come out of the ground ready to be made into jewellery. Much effort is spent finding the gold and extracting it from the ground. Craftsmen then labour for hours on end to turn it into something of beauty.
