Why study Enterprise?
The BTEC Enterprise course will equip learners with business skills including problem solving, financing and time management. All businesses need enterprising leaders and employees to drive their organisations forward, to have ideas and initiatives to promote growth, and to ensure a business survives in this fast-changing world. Enterprise is a key government focus and is set to form an important part in the UK’s global economic status, both now and in the future. Enterprise skills provide a fantastic progression pathway into a number of roles in an organisation and are transferable into all businesses.
How will I study Enterprise?
This qualification gives learners the opportunity to develop sector-specific knowledge and skills in a practical learning environment. The focus is on the knowledge, understanding and skills required to research, plan, pitch and review an enterprise idea that includes:
- Development of key skills that prove aptitude in planning an enterprise activity, including market research, planning, carrying out financial transactions, communication and problem solving.
- Knowledge that underpins effective use of skills, such as the features and characteristics of enterprises and entrepreneurs, and the internal and external factors that can affect the performance of an enterprise
- Attitudes and ways of working that are considered most important for enterprise, including monitoring and reflecting on performance of an enterprise idea and own use of skills.
What will I study at Key Stage 4?
The BTEC Enterprise course is a vocational qualification that provides learners with an engaging and stimulating introduction to the world of business. Learners will develop fundamental knowledge and understanding of researching, planning for, pitching, and reviewing an enterprise. Learners will develop technical skills such as market research, planning, promotion, and finance.

Enrichment
The department offers subject-specific enrichment clubs and pupils are able to use the school’s state-of-the-art IT facilities. Pupils are able to take part in representing the school to increase their engagement and enhance their subject knowledge, such as the Enterprise days and fundraising events.
What can I do after completing this course?
Pupils can continue to make progress towards a vocational course such as Level 3 BTEC in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship/Business. Alternatively, pupils can pursue an A Level course in Business.
