TIGHS Role Models Support and Inspire Others
Year 12 and 13 pupils at Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School have been highly praised by school leaders for steering their younger peers to success.
As part of our school’s leadership specialism, sixth form students have gained the opportunity to become Pastoral and Achievement Tutors (PATs) in order to help support the challenges faced by those in Year 11.
All TIGHS pupils are expected to display the school’s STAR values of Service, Teamwork, Ambition and Respect, with PATs rising to the challenge by going the extra mile to support both academic and personal challenges of other pupils.
The scheme has led older students to offer weekly support sessions, calming words of advice and motivation and, in some cases, participating in Year 11 lessons in order to inspire their peers to reach their full potential. The selfless support given by the Year 12 and 13 pupils has been in addition to their own studies; something which has led to praise from both school and trust leaders.
